A tour bus from Charlotte carrying 35 passengers slid 30 feet down an embankment in Ashe County at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Fifteen passengers received minor cuts. There were no life-threatening injuries. Passengers were transported by school bus to Ashe Memorial Hospital (336-246-7101).
A hard rain was falling when the bus driver took a left from NC 16 onto Shatley Springs Road, about 30 miles north of Wilkesboro. No charges have been filed pending an investigation.
