Release of the names was delayed due to proper identification of the deceased.
Three teenagers were killed as a result of a one-car collision that occurred on Rocky River Road in Iredell County on Monday, August 12, 2002. The driver of the vehicle, Jennifer Lee Finnerty (18 years of age) of 1004 Mebane Street, Mooresville ran off of Rocky River Road to the right, crossed back over the roadway running off the left shoulder, traveling down an embankment striking several trees and overturning. The two backseat passengers, Alexandria Michelle Snider (14 years of age) of 114 Shall Mar Lane, Mooresville, and Kayla Marie Conant (14 years of age) of 287 Overcash Road, Troutman, were ejected from the vehicle as a result of the collision. Snider and Conant were not wearing seatbelts.
The contributing factor to the collision was the driver exceeding the posted speed limit of 45 MPH.
No charges will be filed.
