HURRICANE RECOVERY HEAD TO HELP DEDICATE AFFORDABLE RENTAL COMPLEX BUILT WITH STATE RELIEF FUNDS THURSDAY |
RALEIGH - David Kelly, director of the North Carolina Redevelopment Center, which oversees the state's recovery from Hurricane Floyd, will help dedicate a new 48-unit affordable apartment complex constructed using state relief funds on Thursday, June 7 in Rocky Mount.
Dedication of the Carriage Court complex will take place at noon. Carriage Court Apartments is located at 4655 Sunset Avenue in Rocky Mount. The complex is at the corner of Sunset Avenue and Westry Road.
The Carriage Court development was built using $990,000 in state relief funds appropriated by the General Assembly in December 1999 as part of the Hurricane Floyd Relief Act. The funds are administered by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency.
Episcopal Housing Ministry, Inc., a non-profit organization based in Raleigh, built the Carriage Court development.
As part of the recovery effort, $20 million in state funds have been dedicated to building affordable rental units for low- and moderate-income families in Eastern North Carolina.
