ALCOHOL LAW ENFORCEMENT CHARGES CLERK IN FATAL HARNETT COUNTY CRASH

RALEIGH – N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement agents have charged the convenience store clerk who sold beer to teenagers involved in a fatal accident in Harnett County early this morning. Agents this afternoon charged Christine Jeanette Dyson, age 30, of 883 Lanier Farm Road, Sanford, with selling alcohol to an underage person. The magistrate will set bond.

ALE agents were called at 2:32 this morning by troopers of the State Highway Patrol who investigated the crash that killed 17-year old Matthew Allen of Maimers, and injured three others. The driver, Dustin Yeary, age 19, of Lillington, has been charged with 2nd degree murder by the Patrol. All five persons in the car were underage and drinking alcohol, according to troopers.

The investigation by ALE produced evidence that Dyson sold a 24-pack of beer to Yeary while working at the Wickermart 3300 on Highway 421 South in Broadway. The Wickermart is owned by the Pantry, Inc.

Further charges are pending in the case.

ALE and the Highway Patrol are both divisions of the N.C. Department of Crime Control & Public Safety.
