| RE: | Winston-Salem's Independence High School Will Host Meeting of
Governor's Task Force on Youth Violence and School Safety Tuesday |
|
The Governor's Task Force on Youth Violence and School Safety will hold a town hall meeting Tuesday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Independence High School, 1401 W. Clemmonsville Road, in Winston-Salem. Richard Moore, secretary of the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, has been appointed chairman of the Task Force by Governor Jim Hunt and will preside over the meeting. Task Force members are holding six town hall meetings across the state over the next four weeks to seek input from the public on the subject of preventing violence among our state's young people. Accordingly, the public is strongly urged to attend this meeting. Please help us get the word out about this important meeting. In addition to the town hall meetings, the Task Force is holding a series of meetings in Raleigh. Task Force members are charged with identifying programs and techniques that have proven to prevent youth violence, fostering new ideas that meet that goal, and preparing a report to Governor Hunt by July 15. The aim is to have the Task Force's recommendations ready in time for the start of the next school year. If you have any questions, please call my office at 919-733-5027. |
