The Highway Patrol in Dare County is investigating a hit and run fatal collision that occurred on July 18, 2003, on N.C. 345 at 10:43 a.m. An unknown vehicle traveling North on N.C. 345 struck a bicycle operated by Mr. Harry Niser Sr. of Wanchese. Mr. Niser was killed as a result of the collision. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and is believed to be a red 1987-1988 Pontiac Bonneville with damage to the right front quarter panel.
