RE: Highway Patrol Interstate Crackdown Results

Highway Patrol Troopers charged drivers with 487 violations during a one-day speed reduction campaign on I-95 Friday. Here is a breakdown of the charges:

347 speeding violations
5 driving while impaired
10 driving with license suspended or revoked
25 following too close
100 other charges
Total 487

The purpose of this special emphasis is to crack down on aggressive drivers in an effort to reduce collisions. I-95 is typically one of the heaviest traveled corridors in North Carolina. The Patrol will conduct additional special enforcement campaigns in the future.
