| RE: | Highway Patrol Interstate Crackdown Results | ||||||||||||
|
Highway Patrol Troopers charged drivers with 1,345 violations during a one-day speed reduction campaign on Interstates 26, 40, 77 and 85 in the western half of the state yesterday. Here is a breakdown of the charges:
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that one-third of personal injury collisions and two-thirds of highway deaths are associated with aggressive driving. The purpose of the Highway Patrol's special enforcement effort is to crack down on aggressive drivers in order to reduce collisions. These interstates are typically the heaviest traveled corridors in North Carolina. The Patrol will conduct additional special enforcement campaigns in the future. |
