RE: News coverage of tonight's visitation and tomorrow's funeral

The Highway Patrol and the Duncan Family appreciate the compassion with which the news media has covered the tragic death of Trooper John Duncan. The family has asked that media covering tonight's visitation and tomorrow's funeral please adhere to the following:

  • Please do not approach members of the Duncan Family at either the visitation, funeral or burial site. The family does not want to do media interviews.
  • Please do not enter the funeral home during the visitation tonight. You are welcome to set up outside the funeral home and interview mourners if they agree to it.
  • TV cameras should be set up in Cumberland County Memorial Auditorium to the side of the stage so that they do not block the view of mourners.

Also, we had not yet announced to the media the location of the burial. It will be in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street, across from the V-A Hospital, following the 1:00 p.m. funeral service.

Again, thank you for your understanding at this very difficult time.
