|
The Governor's Crime Commission will hold its regular quarterly meeting this Wednesday and Thursday at the Sheraton Hotel in Chapel Hill. The meeting begins Wednesday at noon with a working luncheon. In the afternoon, Commission members will meet in committees to finalize funding priorities and policy issues for the 2003 grant process. A working dinner will be held at 6:30 with Chief Justice I. Beverly Lake, Jr. as the guest speaker. On Thursday, the committees continue their work beginning at 9:00 a.m., and will conclude at noon with the adoption of 2003 funding priorities. The Commission is the chief advisory board to the Governor and Secretary for the development and implementation of criminal justice policy. Its mission is to improve the quality of life of North Carolina's citizens, enhance public safety, and reduce and prevent crime by improving the criminal justice system. The agenda for both days is attached, and you are invited to cover any or all of the meeting. If you need more information, please call my office at 919-733-5027. |
