| RE: | Helicopters Used in Search & Rescue |
|
A State Highway Patrol and N.C. National Guard helicopter, each equipped with a Forward Looking Infrared Camera will be displayed on Wednesday, February 21, 2001, in front of the Nash Community College as part of a Search and Rescue Seminar. The helicopters are scheduled to land at the Nash County school between 9:45 and 10:15 a.m. (weather permitting) and will depart about 2:30 p.m. Crew members will be available for interviews and to talk about their roles in search and rescue operations in North Carolina. The SAR Seminar runs from February 20 through the 22 at the Nash Community College, located near the Red Oak exit off US-64 (one mile west of I-95) in Nash County. Seminar topics include the Incident Command System; initial interviews; urban search and rescue; search issues regarding Alzheimer patients; search dog teams; jet skis and water rescue; and several case studies. Great visual and good ambient sound story. During the Seminar NCEM Central Branch Manager Bill Gentry at 919-218-2541 will be the point of contact. Before the Seminar contract me, Tom Hegele, at 919-733-3219. |
