| RE: | ALE/Wake Forest University BARS Program to Educate Merchants Before Big Game Tomorrow Night |
|
The N.C. Division of Alcohol Law Enforcement will conduct a "Be A Responsible Server" (BARS) program for merchants that sell alcohol in the Deacon Boulevard area of Winston-Salem. The program will be held on Friday, September 7, at 3:00 p.m. at Cobalt's on Deacon Boulevard. ALE is conducting this program at the request of Wake Forest University as part of an ongoing partnership designed to reduce underage drinking and risky behavior associated with student drinking. Wake Forest University received a grant this year from the N.C. Initiative to Reduce Underage Drinking to address the problem of high-risk drinking among college students. ALE and Wake Forest University have each sent strong messages to students at the beginning of this school year, both through education and enforcement. Those efforts will continue during tomorrow night's football game and throughout the remainder of the school year. For additional information, please contact Chet Jessup, ALE District VII Supervisor at (336) 896-7033, or Natascha Romeo, health educator, Wake Forest University, at (336) 758-5937. |
