Thank you for visiting the North Carolina Department of Crime Control & Public Safety (CCPS) Web site, and reviewing the Privacy Statement. The purpose of the Privacy Statement is to inform you about the information that is collected from you during your visit as well as the use of that information. The following Privacy Statement is a description of CCPS' current practices and shall not be construed as a contractual undertaking. Information Collected and Stored Automatically
When you visit our Web site to browse, read pages, or download information, we automatically collect and store only the following information:

The North Carolina Public Records Law states that public records “shall mean all documents papers, letters, maps, books, photographs, films, sound recordings, magnetic or other tapes, electronic data-processing records, artifacts, or other documentary material, regardless of physical form or characteristics, made or received pursuant to law or ordinance in connection with the transaction of public business by any agency of North Carolina or its subdivisions.” For information to be confidential, a specific provision must be made in the law.
