N. C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety Names Leadership Team

 

RALEIGH-Reuben F. Young, Secretary of the N.C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, today announced Chief Deputy Secretary Gerald Rudisill, Deputy Secretary Jonathan Williams and Assistant Secretary Rhonda Raney will remain in their current positions at the department. Ernie Seneca will be the new Director of Public Affairs for the department, effective March 9, 2009.

Rudisill will continue to oversee the divisions of Alcohol Law Enforcement, Butner Public Safety, the Civil Air Patrol, and the division of Emergency Management. He was named chief deputy secretary for the department in September, 2007.

Williams oversees the operations of the Governor's Crime Commission, Law Enforcement Support Services and Victims' Compensation Services. He was named deputy secretary for the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety in September, 2007.

Raney was named assistant secretary for the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety in October, 2007. She oversees the fiscal, information systems, human resources sections, internal audit sections of the department, as well as the Criminal Justice Information Network.

Thomas Caves will continue as the department's legislative liaison. He has a master's degree in public administration from N. C. State University.

Seneca replaces Julia Jarema who is now the public information officer for N. C. Emergency Management. Seneca served as the communications director for the N.C. Department of Transportation immediately prior to his appointment.

“This leadership team's knowledge and enthusiasm will continue to move the department forward while addressing the public safety issues of our state,” said Young. “I appreciate their commitment to public service.”
