The three attorneys who have agreed to conduct the investigation include:
· Willis Whichard, former NC Supreme Court justice and former law school dean at Campbell University
· Robert Morgan, former SBI Director, former NC Attorney General, and former US Senator
· Ralph Walker, former superior and court of appeals judge and former director of the Administrative Office of the Courts
“Governor Perdue and I are determined to do everything in our power to find the answers regarding the 2005 records,” said Sec. Young. “These three are dedicated public servants and have a history of impartiality and fairness.”
The outcome of the outside investigation will be made public upon its completion.
In addition, Sec. Young has consulted with the SBI about the missing travel records. The SBI is already assisting with the ongoing federal investigation, and will not conduct a separate investigation into this matter at this time.
