Highway Patrol to Conduct Operation Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks (TACT)

The Highway Patrol will conduct Operation TACT beginning Monday, February 2nd at 10:00 a.m. TACT is a two week enforcement initiative that focuses on aggressive driving around commercial motor vehicles. Troopers will also take enforcement action against big trucks for traffic violations. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is partnering with the Highway Patrol in an effort to reduce collisions involving big trucks and other vehicles.
Operation TACT will be conducted on I-77 in Iredell County between the Amity Hill Road and US 21, on I-85 in Cabarrus County between Kannapolis Parkway and Lane Street and on I-85 in Durham County between Cole Mill Road and Red Mill Road.
A press event will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. at Lowe's Motor Speedway in the Silver Parking Lot on the corner of Burton Smith Boulevard and US 29 in Cabarrus County. Mr. Reuben Young, Secretary of the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, Colonel Walter J. Wilson, Jr., Commander of the Highway Patrol, and Mr. Darrell Ruban with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will speak at the event. In the event of inclement weather the press event will be held in the lobby of the speedway's main entrance.
A public event will be held Tuesday, February 3rd from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Concord Mills Parking Lot. The purpose of the event will be to share information on the TACT program initiative. Highway Patrol members will hand out information to educate the public on sharing the roadway safely with commercial motor vehicles (CMVs). Members of the North Carolina Trucking Association “Road Team” will also be available to answer questions.
