Highway Patrol will Provide Applicants Duty Station Assignments Prior to Attending Basic School

The N.C. Highway Patrol will provide applicants their duty station assignment prior to attending the patrol's basic school. In the past cadets were notified of their duty station assignment weeks prior to graduation.

“Hopefully this will attract applicants that were hesitant about applying because of the uncertainty of their duty station assignment,” said Colonel W. Fletcher Clay, Highway Patrol Commander. “We want anybody interested in a law enforcement career that meets our basic qualifications to contact us for additional information.”

The Highway Patrol will conduct two basic schools this fall. A fast track school will begin on October 1st and a traditional school will begin November 12th. The fast track school is 17 weeks long and all applicants must be a sworn law enforcement officer in North Carolina.
