Trooper Awarded for Heroism

CHARLOTTE - Trooper C. J. White will receive the Trooper of the Year Award for his life saving actions last year in Mecklenburg County when he stopped a woman from jumping off a bridge.   An award ceremony is being held at Troop H Headquarters, 2206 Fowler Secrest Road, Monroe at 9 a.m., Thursday, February 21.

The Highway Patrol will also present the Citizen Life Saving Award and the Honorary Trooper Award to five citizens for assisting Trooper J. R. Wren following his traffic collision last year. The following citizens will receive the awards:

Mr. Johnny Mangum
Mr. Sam Starnes Jr.
Mrs. Lana Pressley
Mrs. Virginia Cauthen
