Christopher Madren, 18, was killed after the vehicle he was driving ran off the right side of the road and overturned. ALE agents' investigation revealed that Madren had been drinking alcohol prior to the accident. Charged were:
Justin Bolden, 17, of Lexington, NC, was arrested and charged for Possession of Spirituous Liquor under the age of 21.
Edgar Allen Shell, 47, of Welcome, NC, was arrested and charged with Giving Alcohol to a person less than 21 years of age; and Aiding and Abetting the Purchase of Alcohol by a person less than 21 years of age.
MaryAnn Stuart Josebeck, 57, of Lexington, was arrested and charged with Aiding and Abetting the possession of alcohol by a person less than 21 years of age.
ALE agents learned that Madren had obtained the alcohol from Shell and Bolden, who purchased four different types of spirituous liquor from a local ABC Store prior to the accident. The investigation also revealed that Madren spent part of the night consuming the alcohol he had obtained at the home of Josebeck.
“These types of investigations are very time consuming and in-depth, but we can only hope that the arrests will serve to prevent future tragedies,” said Assistant Supervisor R.T. Beckom.
