STATE TROOPERS RECEIVE DEPARTMENTAL AWARDS
FAYETTEVILLE— Bryan E. Beatty, secretary of the N.C. Department of Crime Control & Public Safety (CC&PS), and Colonel W. Fletcher Clay, Commander of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, will present three troopers with awards from the Department and the Highway Patrol in a ceremony on Tuesday, July 10th.
“Each of these troopers is to be commended on their actions and contributions to the citizens of the state of North Carolina and to our Department,” said Beatty.
Trooper and Award:
Each Trooper performed CPR and other life saving actions on a person who collapsed on the shoulder of US 421 in Sampson County.
“Each Trooper went beyond the normal call of duty, and demonstrated outstanding judgment. This level of service exemplifies what it means to be a State Trooper—to serve others,” said Colonel W. Fletcher Clay, Highway Patrol Commander.
The Commendation Award is CC&PS's second highest award for heroism and is given only to those who have demonstrated judgment and courage that saved others. The Highway Patrol's Samaritan Award is awarded to those whose actions save the life of another person.
Editor's Note: The award ceremony will be held Tuesday, July 10th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Charlie Rose Agri-Expo Center, 1960 Coliseum Dr., Fayetteville. You are invited to attend and cover the story.
