RALEIGH --A missing Brunswick County teenager, 15-year-old Alex Elizabeth Spriggs, has been safely recovered.

A Statewide AMBER Alert was issued yesterday for Spriggs after video from a Winnabow convenience store's security camera showed her leaving on Oct. 26 with an older man in a Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

AMBER Alerts are issued if a child is 17 years or less, believed to have been abducted or to be in danger of injury or death, not taken by a parent (unless the child is in danger) and not believed to be a runaway or voluntarily missing. Eighteen AMBER Alerts have been issued since the system started in 2002.
