STATE TROOPERS RECEIVE DEPARTMENTAL AWARDS
RALEIGH— Bryan E. Beatty, secretary of the N.C. Department of Crime Control & Public Safety (CC&PS), and Colonel W. Fletcher Clay, Commander of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, will present several Departmental awards during a ceremony today at the University of North Carolina's Kenan Stadium in the Stadium Club. One recipient will receive the Department's Meritorious Service Award and the Highway Patrol's Humanitarian Award. Fifty Highway Patrol Employees will receive the Colonel's Appreciation Award.
“Each of these troopers is to be commended on their actions and contributions to the citizens of the state of North Carolina and to our Department,” said Beatty.

Trooper Greg Seabolt-Departments Meritorious Service Award and the Highway Patrol's Humanitarian Award
Trooper Seabolt created Operation Red Sleigh to help less fortunate children in Randolph County during the Christmas holiday season. ·
Captain J. B. Fleetwood and other employees in Troop D- Colonel's Appreciation Award
Captain Fleetwood and others are being recognized for their quick response to the multi-vehicle collision on I-85 in Orange County that occurred this past May.
“Each Trooper went beyond the normal call of duty, and demonstrated outstanding judgment. This level of service exemplifies what it means to be a State Trooper—to serve others,” said Colonel W. Fletcher Clay, Highway Patrol Commander.
