Results From Operation Summer Heat

 

Last week Troopers issued 22,455 charges during Operation Summer Heat. Troopers issued citations for 750 DWI violations. Additional charges are as follows:

Driving while License Revoked-1,271
No Operators License-1,755
Drug Violations- 78
Vehicle Equipment Violations- 6,161
Seatbelt Violations- 2,711
Child seat Violations- 355
Other Violations- 10,124

The goal of Summer Heat is to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities by increasing DWI patrols in areas that have a demonstrated history of alcohol related collisions or arrests. The Patrol will conduct checkpoints in several of the identified counties.

Last year Troopers investigated 1,161 fatalities statewide. Of those 169 were alcohol related. To date this year Troopers have investigated 715 fatalities, of those 107 were alcohol related.
