North Carolina State Highway Patrol Promotes Fifteen Officers

RALEIGH -- The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is promoting 15 of its members to higher ranks. The promotions become effective December 4th.

Lieutenant Jennifer Harris will be promoted to Captain and assigned to the Patrol's Training Academy as Assistant Director of Training. Harris is 41 years of age and joined the Patrol in November of 1989.

“The Highway Patrol is a proud and diverse organization with a rich history,” said Colonel W. Fletcher Clay, Commander of the Highway Patrol. “These Troopers will continue the Patrol's progression toward excellence by providing quality service to the citizens of North Carolina; they have worked hard to earn these promotions.”

“Today is a historic day for the Highway Patrol,” said Bryan E. Beatty, Secretary of the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety. “Lieutenant Harris is the first female to be promoted to the rank of Captain in the history of the Patrol. She has the necessary skills and training to be successful in her new duties.”
