Bryan Beatty, Secretary of the N.C. Department of Crime Control & Public Safety, will hold a press conference on Monday, October 16th at 10:00 a.m. to kick-off Operation Stop Arm.
The news conference will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Safety City, located on the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, between Dorton Arena and Hillsborough Street.
Operation Stop Arm is an aggressive crackdown by the Highway Patrol on motorists who fail to stop for school bus stop arms. Dr. Ben Matthews from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and Colonel Fletcher Clay, Commander of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, will participate in the news conference.
Operation Stop Arm will be conducted throughout North Carolina during the week of October 16-20. Across the state, troopers will be patrolling in school zones, and others will be following school buses. Troopers will be driving marked and unmarked patrol cars, and motorcycles.
