Juvenile Justice Planning Committee Meets in Manteo July 13-14
Programs funded by the Governor's Crime Commission  

On July 13th and 14th, the Juvenile Justice Planning Committee will meet at the Roanoke Island Festival Park Manteo, to discuss its current comprehensive plan, funding priorities and legislative issues for 2007. In addition, the committee will meet with juvenile justice practitioners and local officials to discuss current committee activities and highlight successful juvenile justice programs funded by the Commission.

Participants for this meeting include chairs from local Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils, chief court counselors, mental health employees, Division of Social Services employees, law enforcement officials and Communities in Schools employees.

The following is a list of the seven juvenile justice programs in the northeastern area of the state that are funded by the Governor's Crime Commission:

Dare County Teen Court (Dare County)
CACNC Child Abuse Allied Response Initiative (Pasquotank County) Project CHANCE (Pitt County)
Smart Choices (Wilson County)
District 7 Teen Court (Wilson County)
Project Excel (Wilson County)
Empower Children with Parents Incarcerated (Wilson County)

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday the 13th and ends at 1:30 p.m. on Friday the 14th.
