RE: Butner Chief Takes Oath of Office Oct. 7, 2005
M. Wayne Hobgood will take the oath of office as chief of Butner Public Safety on Friday, October 7, 2005 at 10 a.m. at BPS headquarters. Hobgood is being promoted from assistant chief to chief and becomes a division director within the Dept. of Crime Control and Public Safety.
Hobgood will oversee the operations of Butner’s 43-man department, the sole police and fire authority in a 36 square-mile area in both Granville and Durham counties. The community of Butner is home to 6,000 residents, 25 state and federal institutions and 150 businesses.
Directions to Butner:
From Raleigh: Take Rt. 50 (Creedmoor Road), North to N.C. 56 in Creedmoor. Travel west on N.C. 56 (N.C. 56 will become C Street in Butner) to Central Avenue. Turn right onto Central Avenue in Butner and proceed to F Street. The department headquarters will be on your left at the intersection.
From Durham: Take I-85 N. to Exit 189. Turn left onto Gate 2 Road. (Gate 2 road will become Central Avenue) Proceed to F Street. The department headquarters will be on your left at the intersection.
From Oxford: Take I-85 S. to Exit 189. Turn right onto Gate 2 Road. (Gate 2 road will become Central Avenue). Proceed to F Street. The department headquarters will be on your left at the intersection.
