GARNER - Five new Alcohol Law Enforcement agents graduating from the 22nd ALE Basic School took the Oath of Office on Monday, December 12, 2005.  The ceremony took place at 10 a.m. at the ABC Commission Hearing Room, 3322 Garner Road.

"These new agents have undergone extensive training and are now able to begin enforcing the state's alcohol, drug and tobacco laws,” said Bryan E. Beatty, secretary of the N.C. Dept. of Crime Control and Public Safety. "That means safer communities for all North Carolinians.”

The graduates of the 22nd ALE Basic School have completed more than 500 hours during 12 weeks of specialized training in areas such as ABC laws, drug laws, interview and interrogation, officer survival, and firearms training.

The new agents will be assigned to a field training agent for the next twelve weeks for more on the job training. The five graduates and duty assignments are as follows:

Stacey Edwards           District IV - Raleigh

Rodney Parker             District I - Elizabeth City

Kim Pinckney               District III - Wilmington

Blair Rockwell              District VI - Fayetteville

Kelli Wright                  District IX - Asheville

The state has 104 sworn agents who enforce the state's alcohol, tobacco and controlled substances laws. Agents monitor the sale, consumption, distribution, and transportation of alcoholic beverages, giving special attention to the possession and use of alcohol by minors.
