Results From Operation Slow Down
Last week Troopers issued 2,535 charges for speeding in Troop C (Raleigh, Durham, Wilson, Smithfield areas) and Troop B (Fayetteville, Lumberton, Wilmington, Whiteville, Jacksonville areas). Of those 1,810 were for speeds that exceeded 75 mph. Troopers issued a total of 4,659 charges for traffic violations during the operation.
The week of August 8th Operation Slow Down was conducted in Troops in Troop D (Greensboro, High Point, Asheboro, and Burlington areas) and Troop E (Winston Salem, Concord, and Salisbury areas). Troopers issued 2,250 charges for speeding, of those 1,354 were for speeds that exceeded 75 mph. Troopers issued a total of 4,790 charges for traffic violations during the operation.
The week of July 25th Operation Slow Down was conducted in Troop H (Charlotte area) and Troop F (Statesville, Hickory areas). Troopers issued 1,310 charges for speeding, of those, 700 were for speeds that exceeded 75 mph. Troopers issued a total of 2,733 charges for traffic violations during the operation.
To date Troopers have issued 12,182 traffic charges during operation Slow Down.
Troopers are conducting Operation Slow Down 2005 the week of September 12th-18th in Troop A (Greenville, Morehead City, Manteo, and Elizabeth City areas).
