The N.C. Highway Patrol will conduct two graduation ceremonies on the SHP Training Academy campus at 3318 Garner Road tomorrow, Friday, May 20th.
The 26th Basic Telecommunicators School will graduate at 9:00 a.m. in the Training Academy Auditorium. The 17 class members are stationed at the Highway Patrol’s eight communication centers throughout the state that dispatch troopers to incidents. During the four-week school, the telecommunicators studied such subjects as computerized dispatch operations, AMBER Alert procedures, and emergency response and adverse weather procedures.
The 2nd Motor Carrier Enforcement Transition School will graduate at 11:00 a.m. on the front lawn of the Training Academy. The graduation speaker is John F. Sullivan, Division Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration based in Raleigh. The 21 graduating MCE officers have completed an eight week course with over 325 hours of both classroom and practical training. The Transition School is the final stage of integration of the Motor Carrier Enforcement Officers into the Highway Patrol. Each graduate will be sworn in as State Trooper and will maintain their current rank.
