Exercise Capital Guardian to be Held in Downtown Raleigh 

On Saturday, December 11, 2004, the Department of Crime Control & Public Safety, in conjunction with other state and local law enforcement and emergency response agencies will conduct a security exercise in the state government complex in downtown Raleigh.

The purpose of “Exercise Capital Guardian” is to test the command, control and communication procedures in the downtown security plan developed to respond to a terrorist threat or attack.

During the exercise, law enforcement officers will be stationed throughout the state government complex, and some roads will be closed to accommodate the exercise. The exercise should not interfere with holiday activities, museums, or other events going on in downtown Raleigh.

 

Road closures from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. (see map below)

Lane Street between Salisbury Street and Wilmington Street

Wilmington Street between Jones and Peace Streets

North Street between Wilmington Street and Blount Street

Polk Street between Wilmington Street and Blount Street
