N.C. STATE HIGHWAY PATROL CELEBRATES 75TH ANNIVERSARY

 

The Highway Patrol celbrated its 75th anniversary on Tuesday, November 9th at Dorton Arena on the State Fairgrounds. 

The event included historical and equipment displays and demonstrations to show the advancement of the Highway Patrol from 37 members in 1929 to 1,794 uniformed officers and 495 civilian employees today.

While the duties have increased over the years, the primary mission of the Patrol continues to be providing safety and law enforcement on more than 78,000 miles of state maintained highways.
