RE:                 Governor’s Crime Commission grant workshop – New Bern

Local government and non-profit agencies in your area who are recipients of the 2004 Governor's Crime Commission grants will be attending a workshop next week.  Grant recipients will be available for media interviews about their grant programs.  

Gov. Mike Easley announced on May 26 that the Governor's Crime Commission has awarded more than $26 million in federal grant money to local government agencies and community groups across the state.  The grants help at-risk youth, victims of domestic violence, law enforcement officers and courts with resources they need to protect North Carolina citizens. 

A list of all the grant recipients is attached.  The workshop for grantees in your area will be held on Tuesday, June 22, from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, 203 South Front Street.  You are encouraged to attend.  If you have any questions, please call my office at 919-733-5027.
