| RE: | Highway Patrol Crackdown on U.S. 74 in Robeson and Columbus Counties |
|
On August 30, 2002, the N.C. Highway Patrol will conduct a speed reduction campaign on US 74 in Robeson and Columbus Counties to combat aggressive driving. Troopers from counties surrounding Robeson and Columbus will converge on US 74 focusing on the true aggressive driver. The aggressive driver has been identified as those drivers who flagrantly violate the motor vehicle laws, including but not limited to: excessive speeding, following too closely, erratic lane changes, safe movement violations, and other forms of reckless endangerment. Aggressive drivers account for the majority of the traffic collisions that occur on the state roadways. Troopers will be using both marked and unmarked cars along with the Camaros for this campaign. For additional information contact Line Sergeant Joel Siles, Traffic Safety Information Officer, at 910-486-1058. |
