Buckle In Baby Safely
While most drivers will place children in child safety seats, 70 to 90 percent do so incorrectly. Through the BIBS program, the State Highway Patrol hopes to reverse that trend. Please take the time to ensure your child?s safety seat is buckled in properly.
You may go to your local Highway Patrol office to have a trooper show you how to correctly install a child seat. All State troopers have been trained in the proper installation of child safety seats and will be happy to assist you.
Child Safety Seats should be appropriate for the age and size of your child. Always read the instructions that come with your child safety seat and your vehicle's owner's manual. Always fill out warranty cards and mail them to the safety seat manufacturer, so you will be notified if there is a recall.
For copies of the Buckle-In-Baby Safely brochure, contact the Traffic Safety Officer nearest to you.
Note: If you live in the Triangle you can schedule an appointment to have your child restraint seat properly installed. Telephone 919-733-3911 for additional information.
