A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
It is hard to believe that summer is about to end. We have been very busy at the Governor's Crime Commission with grant award workshops and preparing grant awards for distribution.
Most of our federal funding has been received and grant awards have been mailed. For those of you receiving grant awards, please ensure you include all required documentation when returning your signed award in order to expedite the start of your grant. There are still two sources of federal funding which have not been received. This has caused a further delay in mailing grant awards. If you have not yet received a grant award and have questions, please feel free to contact us.
Although implementation has been delayed, we remain excited about the new Grants Enterprise Management System (GEMS). We have been advised, and remain hopeful, that the system will be operational by the end of September. We will keep you updated as additional information is received.
Currently preparations are taking place for the upcoming grant writing workshops. These workshops will take place in various locations across the state during the month of October. A detailed schedule as well as registration information will be posted soon at www.ncgccd.org. Following each workshop, the Governor's Crime Commission will host a series of community forums. These forums are being conducted to obtain input about local criminal justice issues impacting the areas. Additional information will soon be posted! Be sure to check the website often for more updated information.
The 2010 Safe Communities Conference sponsored by the Governor's Crime Commission will take place December 1-3, 2010 at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. Registration is now open for this conference! Visit the Governor's Crime Commission website for additional information.
