Lost Pets

What to do if you lose your pet:

• Alert local shelters immediately upon discovering that your pet is missing.
  
  
• Remember that after an emergency, some pets are in shock and do not seem to recognize their owners.
  
  
• Have a way to prove ownership of your pet.  Keep copies of your pet's immunizations and proof of veterinary care in your emergency kit.
  
  
• Have a good, clear full-body photo of you and your pet.  Does your pet have any identifying markings or colorings that would be helpful if it were lost or found?
  
  
• Put up posters of your pet where it was last seen.
  
  
• Put a lost or found classified ad in your local newspaper, or check the lost pet web sites at:

• Call neighbors, and service workers such as mail carriers, police, fire fighters, etc. for leads.
