Grants
The Department of Crime Control and Public Safety administers federal criminal justice block grants through the Governor’s Crime Commission and homeland security grants through the Division of Emergency Management.
Governor’s Crime Commission Grants
The Governor's Crime Commission Grants Management Section administers federal block grants for new criminal justice and juvenile justice programs in North Carolina. The Commission administers about $30 million of grants each year and assures that money is spent according to federal and state governmental regulations during the life of the grants.
The grants are awarded to government, education and social service agencies to start new and innovative programs in the following areas:
The State Homeland Security Grant Program
The State Homeland Security Grant Program, SGHSGP, provides funds to help state and local units of government prevent, deter, respond to, and recover from incidents of terrorism involving the use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive weapons and cyber attacks. This includes responders in cities, counties, and state agencies.
